Unease As Govt Seeks to Regulate Churches in Uganda

The government is currently gathering views, which will form the draft policy in an effort to stop pastors who are purveyors of a false gospel and steal from their flock by faking miracles, writes The Monitor's Misairi Thembo Kahungu. If the cabinet adopts the policy, districts will have religious and faith-based organisation boards that will be composed of three political leaders and four technical officers. The committee will have powers to co-opt technical officers to deal with specific issues.
