SADC Goes Virtual as COVID-19 Spreads

Ministers of Health from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) have agreed to coordinate their efforts to respond to COVID-19 in the region. The regional bloc has also suspended planned public events ias part of efforts to minimise risks from the coronavirus pandemic. SADC meetings will now be conducted via video or teleconferencing.

    The main purpose of the meeting was to share existing knowledge and information on the COVID-19 outbreak, which has had devastating global impacts since its outbreak in December 2019, and agree on how to harmonize and coordinate the preparedness and response to COVID-19 in the SADC region.
