Video Outrage Sparks New Rules For Kenya's COVID-19 Burials
Before handling the remains, health officials will be required to be in protective gear and will spray the body before placing it in the appropriate body bag. If a coffin is necessary, it will be placed outside the house, and then the body will be placed by health officials in full protective equipment. This comes after the surfacing of video clips showing a deceased Kenya Ports Authority employee's body being thrown into a shallow grave in a body bag without a coffin. The ban on operation of bars and nightclubs however appears to be doing little to stop Kenyans from holding parties, which have been moved to houses.
