Elderly, Ill Told to Lock Down as South Africa Hits COVID-19 High

The Western Cape has 51.7% of the cases, standing at 52 554. Gauteng has 22 341 and the Eastern Cape 16 895. The department of health says 53 444 people have recovered, translating to rate of 52.6%.

Established in a City of Cape Town-owned community sports centre, the Khayelitsha Field Hospital will function as an extension of the adjacent Khayelitsha District Hospital, essentially expanding its capacity to treat moderate to severe COVID-19 cases.
