Regional Leaders Sign Peace Deal to End Clashes in Kenya

Governors under the Lake Region Economic Bloc have agreed to end the tribal violence largely caused by land conflicts while signing a peace accord. Nandi, Kakamega, Kericho, Kisumu and Vihiga, regions torn apart by these conflicts, promised to promote integration and cohesion. Elders from those regions were also appointed to monitor the progress of the accord and review it monthly. Governors also opened a joint market to serve residents of Nandi and Kakamega counties. They also called for intermarriage among the communities, to eliminate ethnic clashes.
