'Taxes, Extortion Cripple Small Businesses in Abuja'

Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in Abuja are finding it difficult to thrive because of various taxes and other restrictions, an investigation by Daily Trust's Taiwo Adeniyi and Chidimma Okeke says. This comes as the national government is developing a draft national policy on growing the SME sector. Nigeria, Africa's largest economy, is experiencing worsening economic conditions, including another recession and joblessness among the youth. The situation has been exacerbated by the Covid-19 pandemic, which has impacted the country's oil income.
