Landmark Peace Deal, But Now Eritrea, Ethiopia Are Allies in War

Ethiopia is a key political and economic state in the Horn of Africa, which is also home to Sudan, South Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti and Somalia. One of those countries in the Horn is now - two years after a much-lauded friendship agreement which won Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed the Nobel Peace Prize - an ally in Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's war with the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF). And then news of a military alliance between President Isaias Afwerki and Abiy emerged, sparking Eritrea's former defence minister Mesfin Hagos to write about how sure he is that neither leader is interested in a peaceful resolution until the TPLF is destroyed.
