Nigerian Navy Boosts Gulf of Guinea Patrol With UK, France, Italy

For the first time in 17 years, the Gulf of Guinea and the Nigerian waters recorded the lowest piracy drop, in the first nine months of 2021, writes Evelyn Usman for Vanguard.

This is welcome news for an area dogged by piracy, human trafficking, cargo theft and other crimes.

Now the UK, France and Italy have put their respective navy weight behind Nigeria's own naval efforts to ensure the safety of all seafarers in the Gulf of Guinea.

This kind of collaboration strengthens maritime security partnership and also oils the diplomatic and bilateral relationship between the visitor and host nation, writes This Day.
