U.S. Bill on Ethiopia Calls For Harsh Sanctions, Violent Measures
The #NoMore Movement - a global "peaceful movement" has denounced the Orwellian entitled "Ethiopia Stabilisation, Peace and Democracy Act" (HR 6600), which calls for the imposition of harsh sanctions and violent measures against Ethiopia by the U.S.
In its statement, the movement has reaffirmed that it stands unified against HR 6600 and U.S. aggression toward Ethiopia, Eritrea and Somalia. The bill passed by the House Foreign Affairs Committee that was introduced by U.S. representatives Tom Malinowski and Young Kim.
Drone attacks continue in the Tigray region despite Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and the federal government laying the groundwork for what they call a national dialogue. The conflict has claimed thousands of lives and pushed hundreds of thousands into famine. Rights groups have accused fighters on all sides of widespread sexual violence.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Demeke Mekonnen has also called on Ethiopians in the diaspora to support peace and development efforts.
