Ghana Peace Activist Mutaru Muqthar 2017 African of the Year

Mutaru Muqthar, founder and executive director of the West African Centre for Counter Extremism based in Accra, has been named the Daily Trust African of the Year for 2017. The Award Jury also honored renowned heart surgeon, Professor Sir Magdi Habib Yacoub, with a Life-Time Achievement Award to commemorate the tenth year anniversary of AFRICAN OF THE YEAR project.
