One Year After U.S. Africa Summit, Officials Outline Achievements

"United States remains all in on Africa," the White House says in a Fact Sheet issued to review successes one year after President Biden hosted the U.S. Africa Leaders Summit. During an "extraordinary year of U.S. engagement with Africa," the Biden-Harris Administration "made progress in delivering on our high-profile commitments" and "is over-delivering on our commitment to invest $55 billion in Africa over three years," the policy statement says.

During a media briefing to outline the achievements, officals listed a range of activities that have been launched this year. And President Biden is "very serious about his desire to travel to Africa, according to Judd Devermont, the National Security Council senior director for Africa.

To mark the anniversary, Prosper Africa - the interagency innitative set up to promote closer U.business ties, released a Deal Book that demonstrates that the United States is catalyzing significant progress in trade and investment, citing the successful closure of 547 new deals totaling an estimated value of $14.2 billion in two-way trade and investment between the United States and African countries. "If Africa prospers, America prospers, and so we want to prosper together," Prosper Africa coordinator British RobinsonIn, said an Allafrica interview in  Cape Town last month
