Unemployed South African Doctors March for Jobs

Hundreds of doctors, nurses, and healthcare workers rallied outside Union Buildings in Pretoria, urging the government to address the financial problems plaguing the health sector, and highlighting the need to increase the Budget and create jobs for 800 medical professionals.

This follows an ongoing public outcry over doctors who have completed statutory community service programmes, but remain unemployed.

Deputy President of the South African Medical Association, Dr Nkateko Minisi, said the health workers are needed to strengthen the health system. The presidency acknowledged the concerns, promising a response within a week.
