WHO Wants More Investment for TB Treatment - Study Shows Why

Ahead of World TB Day, the World Health Organization has said while global efforts to combat the disease have saved an estimated 75 million lives since the year 2000, it still causes 1.3 million deaths each year and affects millions more in communities and families. A new TB investment case study highlights the impact to be achieved from expanding screening and preventive treatment. "The investment case outlines the health and economic rationale for investing in evidence-based, WHO-recommended interventions on TB screening and prevention that can contribute to advancing universal health coverage", WHO's Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said.
