2024 AfDB Annual Meetings Plans for Africa to Drive Global Agenda

The African Development Bank Group's 2024 Annual Meetings is taking place in Nairobi, Kenya from May 27-31. This will be the 59th Annual Assembly of the Bank and the 50th meeting of the African Development Fund. The theme for the 2024 annual meetings, drawn from the Bank's 2024 African Economic Outlook, is: Africa's Transformation, African Development Bank Group, and Reform of the Global Financial Architecture. In his remarks to journalists covering the Bank's Annual Meetings in Nairobi, AfDB president Akinwumi Adesina, Adesina said, "Africa will drive the global agenda for renewable energy, employing solar power to fuel future energy needs" and "by 2030 the African Development Bank in collaboration with the World Bank will connect 300  million Africans to electricity." African Development Bank president Akinwumi Adesina addressing the meeting of the Bureau of the Boards of Governors at the opening of the Bank’s 59th Annual Meetings being held in Nairobi, Kenya.

William Samoei Ruto, President of Kenya, and Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank, will welcome around 15 African heads of state and government, many ministers, and senior African and global financial executives to Nairobi.
