Dangote Urges Halt To Petroleum Import, Says Nigeria Has Enough

The billionaire Nigerian oil magnate, Aliko Dangote, has questioned why the state-owned Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) and private retailers still import petroleum products when his refinery can "produce enough". Dangote said his company has more than 500 million liters of petroleum in stock, "which is more than enough to serve Nigeria if retailers buy from it".

Some analysts are, however, skeptical about whether the quantity was enough to service the needs of Nigerians. In recent months, Dangote's company, the Dangote Group, has been at loggerheads with the NNPC and some private oil firms over control of the petroleum market.
