Zimbabwe Govt Pulls Out of $367-Million U.S. Health Deal

A group of public health physicians is calling for fresh negotiations between Harare and Washington to continue after the collapse of a proposed $367 million bilateral health agreement.

The proposed deal would reportedly have bolstered the country's priority health sectors, including HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention, tuberculosis, malaria, maternal and child health, and disease outbreak preparedness.

The government's decision came after a report saying that Zimbabwe is among seven African countries to which the Trump administration will cut all U.S. humanitarian funding.
