Burkina Faso Focuses on Cultural Identity in National AI Strategy

Burkina Faso has taken steps to place local languages at the core of its Artificial Intelligence development policy as part of a broader push for digital sovereignty.

During the launch of the initiative in Ouagadougou by the Ministry of Digital Transition, officials unveiled a program dedicated to the linguistic formalization and the "creation of a comprehensive data corpus for Large Language Models".

The session brought together a diverse group of stakeholders - including researchers, linguists, journalists, and AI specialists. This collaborative effort aims to ensure that Burkina Faso's digital future remains rooted in its cultural and linguistic identity.
