UAE Assures Safety of Kenyan Workers Amid Regional Tensions

The government of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has pledged to "do everything necessary" to ensure the safety of Kenyans and the wider African community in the Gulf nation as the Middle East grapples with the U.S.-Israel-Iran crisis. UAE Minister of State Saeed bin Mubarak Al Hajeri said the tens of thousands of Kenyan residents are considered "part of the UAE family."

The assurance comes amid rising concerns among Kenyans for their compatriots working in the UAE's hospitality, security, and transport sectors. Data from Kenya's Ministry of Trade estimates that between 30,000 and 50,000 Kenyans lived and worked in the UAE as of late 2024-2025.

"Indeed, citizens and residents, including our valued African community, are going about their daily lives; businesses remain open, and essential services continue to operate seamlessly at full capacity," the minister said.
