The South African government has given undocumented migrants from Zimbabwe up to the end of August to finalise their paperwork and apply for special permits that would make their stay in the country a permanent one.
Most are economic migrants and if they do not meet the deadline, they face deportation.
Many are worried about being sent back to a country still plagued by political and economic problems.
And if the situation in Zimbabwe does not improve, those who do get deported could likely come back.
