New Members Join Africare Board of Directors

Washington, DC — African Coca-Cola executive and prominent African-American investment banker are among board appointments

Africare announces the appointment of five inddividuals to its Board of Directors. Two of the additions to the Board are new to Africare: Alexander B. Cummings, Jr., and Harold E. Doley, Jr. Re-joining the Africare Board after a period of absence are Lauretta J. Bruno, Alice M. Dear, and Percy C. Wilson.

Mr. Cummings is an Executive Vice President of the Coca-Cola Company and President of its Africa Group, where he directs the company's operations in Africa. He also serves as Chairman of The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation, which supports health and education across Africa. A native of Liberia, Mr. Cummings held positions throughout his career requiring him to conduct business on every continent.

Mr. Doley is Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Doley Securities, Inc., the oldest African-American owned investment banking firm in the United States. Mr. Doley has been a member of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) for 30 years and is currently the only African-American owner of a seat on the NYSE. Mr. Doley has held several government appointments, including United States Representative to the African Development Bank and Director of the Minerals Management Service at the U.S. Department of the Interior. He was most recently appointed by President George W. Bush to the Presidential Board of Advisors Commission on Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

Ms. Bruno is President and Founding Partner of Gramercy Partners, an investment and advisory firm focusing on South Africa, advising both American and African institutional clients. Prior to her current endeavor, Ms. Bruno had a nearly 30-year career with JP Morgan Chase, where she specialized in corporate finance and investment banking in Southern Africa.

Ms. Dear is Vice President of the Africa Millennium Fund, LLC, a private equity fund that invests in infrastructure projects in Sub-Saharan Africa. She is also President of A.M. Dear & Associates, a business consulting and investment advisory boutique that promotes private sector investment in Africa and supports small- and medium-scale enterprises. Under the Clinton administration, Ms. Dear served as U.S. Executive Director of the African Development Bank.

Mr. Wilson is a Senior Associate of the IRC Group. He also serves as President of UTALCO, a company that provides logistics management, marketing, sales, exhibition, and distribution of African-made goods to U.S. markets. Previously, Mr. Wilson was an executive with the Coca-Cola Company, where he served as Director, External Affairs, Africa Group. He has also served as Vice President of the African Development Foundation and Director of the Phelps Stokes Fund, Washington Bureau.
