The Ecobank Group is pleased to announce that its subsidiaries have won a total of eleven country category awards at The Banker's 2010 Awards.

The awards, now in their eleventh year, are organised by the leading global banking and finance magazine and recognize the achievements of the world's top financial institutions. According to the judging panel, the quality of the entries was the highest ever received and awards were made for a record 149 countries worldwide. Ecobank amassed more awards than any other international banking group in this year's event.

Ecobank's subsidiaries in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Chad, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Mali, Niger, the Republic of Congo and Togo were amongst the African winners. Recurring themes across each of these eleven countries that impressed the judges were strong financial fundamentals and performance within a challenging environment, innovative product offerings (such as SMS text messaging and rapid transfer banking), effective growth strategies and the use of technology to enhance customer service and improve efficiency.

A team of Ecobank's senior executives attended the prestigious event at London's Park Lane Hotel, with Rosemary Yeboah, Head of Corporate Banking for Ecobank Ghana, accepting the awards on behalf of the Group.

Commenting on the awards, Ecobank Group CEO, Arnold Ekpe, said:

"We take immense pride in winning 11 awards at this influential global banking event. I am delighted that Ecobank's achievements are gaining recognition amongst the international banking community and wish to congratulate all our Ecobank colleagues on their success."

"It is particularly gratifying to see our country units reaping the benefits of our "One Bank" strategy, which provides a consistent customer experience and capitalizes on Ecobank's pan-African scale."
