African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina held discussions with UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon Wednesday at the UN headquarters in New York, ahead of the UN Sustainable Development Summit.

"Over 400 million people in Africa live in extreme poverty - that's about 4 in 10 of its population - comprising a third of the world's poorest people," said Adesina. "The success or failure of the New York Summit will ultimately be measured by whether the new Sustainable Development Goals are making a difference in Africa in the years to come."
