Grand Launching of Three Flagship Publications of the ECA

Niamey — The Ivorian Minister of Planning, Mme Kaba Nialé, will preside with pomp, on 10 June 2016 at the twentieth (20) floor of the Ministry of Planning, and in the presence of the Director of the ECA Sub-Regional Office for West Africa, Mr Dimitri Sanga, a high-level meeting to disseminate the country-profile of Côte d'Ivoire, the 2016 Economic Report on Africa on the theme "Towards Green Industrialisation in Africa" and the 2016 African Governance Report IV on "Measuring Corruption in Africa: the International Dimension Matters".

In addition to high level officials from the Ministry of Planning, this workshop to disseminate these three key publications of the ECA will be attended by officials from the Ministries of the Economy and Finance, Industries and Mines, the Environment, Justice, Regional Integration, Ivorians from abroad, cocoa sector management structures, structures in charge of the policy to promote good governance, the department in charge of gender empowerment, the department in charge of health statistics, the National Institute of Statistics, Universities, the Higher National Institute of Statistics and Applied Economics (ENSEA), media, United Nations Agencies, the African Development Bank, development partners, the African Union, regional economic communities, experts and students.

The objective of this meeting is to: (i) inform and raise the awareness of decision-makers, development partners and other stakeholders on the socio-economic profile of Côte d'Ivoire established by the ECA in 2015, the economic situation in Africa and the state of governance on the continent, (ii) discuss the outcomes of the thematic analysis on the diversification of Côte d'Ivoire's exports, the industrialization of Africa through the green economy and measuring corruption, (iii) exchange on recommendations on policies from key publications of the ECA and examine conditions for their effective implementation, and (iv) formulate recommendations and guidelines to improve the next editions of these three key publications of the ECA.

It should be noted that these three key publications of the ECA which the Ivorian government is proud to launch highly contribute to structurally transform African economies.
