African Development Bank HQ, Avenue Joseph Anoma, Plateau, Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire — In pursuit of economic and social progress, African countries implemented structural programs for sustainable development, including the African Union 2030 Agenda.
The African Development Bank, through its Independent Development Evaluation (IDEV) department, is organizing from 5-7 September 2018 its third knowledge-sharing forum entitled "Evaluation Week 2018" under the theme Strengthening Development Impact.
The meeting is being held as part of the Bank's contribution to efforts to achieve Agenda 2063, which seeks to promote: employment through agriculture and industrialization, access to clean and affordable energy and water; diversification of food supply; and the promotion of inclusive growth and equality for a better life for all Africans.
The forum, which is a biennial event, provides a platform for sharing knowledge, experiences and good practice on development and evaluation in Africa. This year the meeting will focus on the contribution of evaluation to the implementation of the key priority areas under Agenda 2063.
Topics on the agenda include agricultural value chains and public private partnerships for infrastructure development, harvesting knowledge from evaluations, strengthening evaluation capacities, and establishing strategic partnerships to promote evaluation.
More than 300 participants are expected to attend the forum, from civil society; private sector, the media, as well as members of the Bank Board of Directors, senior Management and operational staff.
The President of the African Development Bank, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, will deliver the welcome address followed by an opening address by Her Excellency Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Minister to the South African Presidency for Planning, monitoring and evaluation.
