However, there were some problems with voting materials not being delivered on time and issues with voters not forming orderly queues.

The election was tainted by widespread, controversial allegations and claims of tampering and vote manipulation on the part of the Electoral Commission.

Results started coming out with John Dramani Mahama leading with 50.7% of the vote, followed by his nearest rival, Nana Akufo-Addo who received 47.74%.

However the Electoral Commission of Ghana (EC) on December 9, 2012 declared John Dramani Mahama President-elect after the 2012 general elections.
