The 2005 Comprehensive Report on U.S. Trade and Investment Policy for sub-Saharan Africa and the Implementation of the African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA), prepared by the Office of the United States Trade Representative and submitted to Congress, indicates that U.S. exports to sub-Saharan Africa increased 25 percent between 2003 and 2004, while U.S. imports from the region increased 88 percent during the same period.
