The present report is submitted pursuant to paragraph 17 of Security Council resolution 1828 (2008), of 31 July 2008, by which the Council requested me to report every 60 days after the adoption of the resolution on the deployment and operations of the African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID), the political process, the security and humanitarian situation in Darfur and the compliance of all the parties with their international obligations. The report covers the months of December 2008 and January 2009.
