The former head of the International Monetary Fund, Dominique Strauss-Kahn has given his first television interview since a New York sex assault case derailed his IMF career and wrecked his chances of running for president.

Strauss-Kahn accused the Guinean hotel maid who laid charges against him of lying. He said he was angry with himself for what he called an ill-judged but consensual liaison. He was detained in New York in May, but charges were dropped last month.

Al Jazeera's Jacky Rowland reports from Paris.
