Lights on: Kenya Power, Union Reach Deal on Pay

The industrial dispute between the Kenya Power and Lighting Company and the Kenya Electrical Trades and Allied Workers' Union reached a resolution today, with a deal signed between the two parties. The agreement covers wage increases, in which permanent employees will have an increase of 8% for each of two subsequent years. Contract and temporary employees will also benefit from a wage increase. The deal means that the threat of a countrywide strike has now been shelved.
