Manufacturing firm Proctor & Alan insists that the Unimix consignment found to have been contaminated with afflatoxin upon distribution to hunger stricken areas through the Kenyans for Kenya initiative had successfully gone through quality certification procedures. The company managing director Judy Macharia says they have unsuccessfully asked for the 25 tonnes for replacement but it remains in the custody of the Kenya Red Cross, as the ministry of public health carries further postmortem to identify at what stage the product got contaminated.
