The strike by Kenyatta National Hospital staff has been called off. Workers resumed duties this evening after an agreement on the payment of their allowances was reached. There was joy as a memorandum of understanding was signed between the hospitals chief executive officer and assistant minister for medical services. The over 800 employees boycotted work demanding payment of allowances that are in arrears from July this year. The strike had paralyzed services at the giant health facility with hundreds of inpatient and outpatients left unattended. Under the agreement the workers will now receive their allowances in two weeks.
