Power Prices Hiked

The Electricity Regulatory Authority has increased power tariffs for all consumers starting this saturday. And large industrial users are set to be the hardest hit with the cost per unit going up by nearly 70 per cent. Domestic users as well as medium industrial users will pay more by about 40 per cent. While announcing the new tariffs, ERA said the tariffs had not been revised since 2006 and that the changes were aimed at creating a self sustaining sector.
