Kenya Defence Force is downplaying Al Shabaab's formal merger with the global terrorist outfit Al Qaeda. KDF says it has known all along that the two were working together. However KDF says the formal announcement is good for Kenya's efforts in Somalia because it now affords the international community the opportunity to be more actively engaged in fighting the group and as Brenda Wanga reports, the KDF says it has incapacitated the logistical command of the Al Shabaab following the killing of at least eight of its commanders.
