Kenya: Turkana Residents Optimistic About Oil Discovery

The announcement by President Kibaki that Kenya has struck oil in Turkana was received with huge expectations not just in the region but across the entire country. However, stakeholders, including Turkana East Member Of Parliament Josphat Nanok, are calling on the people not to jump the gun too soon, as the necessary framework has to be put in place in a process that may take up to 3 years. But, as Sally Mbilu reports, this has done little to quell the mood of optimism in the region, an impoverished county with somewhat changing fortunes.
