Kenya: Ocampo Four Trial Could Be Delayed

It is now emerging that trials for the Ocampo four post election violence suspects, among them presidential hopefuls Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto, could be held back, up until the upcoming general election concludes. ICC prosecutor Luis Moreno - Ocampo has confirmed that he will not object to a proposal by the suspects to delay their trial, pending the determination of an appeal challenging the court's jurisdiction...Ocampo further told ICC trial chamber five judges, that he was aware that even if the trials commenced immediately, it was unlikely that they would be concluded by march next year. But, as Francis Gachuri reports, Ocampo said his only concern, was the safety of prosecution witnesses.
