In the wake of a spate of road accidents, the education ministry today announced that school children may not be allowed to travel from 6.30 pm. The resolution was reached after a seminar convened by the Ministry of Education, the parents association and the Kenya Police traffic department to train drivers of school buses and other private vehicles, who transport students to school. In addition, the police traffic department will regularly inspect the school vehicles to ensure that they are in top condition, to reduce the number of accidents involving school children. NTV's Sheila Sendeiyo reports.
