Kenya: Teachers Defy Govt Order Over Strike

Learning in public schools will remain paralyzed for yet another week after teachers' unions vowed to continue with their strike despite a warning by Government that they resume work Monday or else their salaries will be withheld. The two teachers' unions KNUT and KUPPET said yesterday that they will not be intimidated by the Government to end the strike and added that the industrial action will only be called off after the Government implements their demands.
