Kenya: President Urges Dialogue with Striking Teachers

President Mwai Kibaki has finally broken his week long silence on the ongoing teachers' strike and asked teachers to be reasonable in their demands. Speaking for the first time on the strike that has paralyzed learning in public schools, the President urged striking employees to dialogue with the government adding that they should bear in mind the economic situation in the country. The President spoke in Nakuru today as teachers defied government order to resume work today as the industrial action entered week two today.
