Kenyan Teachers Want 1997 Pay Deal Honoured

The Parliamentary Committee on Education today failed to unlock the deadlock between teachers and the government that has paralysed the public education system over the past 7 days. The teachers' unions insisted on the full implementation of the 1997 pay deal even as the government maintained all the dues had been paid. And as Sally Mbilu reports, this prompted the parliamentary team to refer the matter to the committee on delegated legislations which is expected to provide interpretation on the contentious legal notices.
