Kenya's President Order Crackdown on Raiders

A Samburu County civic leader suspected to be the mastermind of the Baragoi massacre has been arrested.

Councillor Lawrence Lorunyei of Nachola Ward, in Samburu County was apprehended at a police road block in Nyahururu, enroute to Nairobi. His arrest came as President Mwai Kibaki ordered an immediate crackdown on the armed raiders.

Police Commissioner Mathew Iteere said he would not resign and blamed the commanders in charge of the squad in Baragoi for the botched pursuit of the raiders. Francis Gachuri has the details.
