Iconic jazz musician and arranger, Victor Ntoni, has passed away. He was 65-years-old. The respected and celebrated bassist died in a Johannesburg hospital yesterday morning - from a heart attack. He was admitted to hospital last week after experiencing difficulty breathing.

Morning Live spoke to Ntoni's friend, Johny Mekoa, about the late jazz icon.

Born in Langa township, outside Cape Town, in 1947, Ntoni first established himself with some of the Mother City's leading musicians - the like of the Ngcukana brothers - before going to work with most of the great names. At the time of his death Ntoni had become a legend in the jazz community. Victor Mhleli Ntoni is survived by his wife Linda and six children.
