Black market demand for rhino horn, especially in the emerging economies in Asia, is posing a threat to Africa's rhinos. To prevent illegal poaching, the government of South Africa is deploying soldiers to protect this endangered animal in Kruger National Park, and CITES is developing a database that will identify rhinos smuggled across borders by their DNA.
