Many songs bear the name 'Mandela' and pay respect to the man who dedicated his life to ending apartheid. In the week after his death, South African rapper Tumi reflects on the life of his first black president and the song he, too, chose to name after him. That so many works of art in one way of another praise the late Mandela is proof of how he captured the imagination of millions across the globe. One song by Danyel Waro, a musician from the island of Réunion, is simply called 'Mandela'. It initially appeared on his album 'Bwarouz', released in 1993, just one year before Mandela became president. More than a decade and a half later, Waro decided to re-record it, this time with the help of South African rapper Boitumelo Molekane, more commonly known as Tumi.
