Urgent action is needed to prevent a repeat of 2011 famine in Somalia but funding for humanitarian assistance is dangerously low. 200,000 children are acutely malnourished and 50,000 children are severely malnourished in the country, including many at risk of death within weeks if they do not get the treatment they need. The widespread food security crisis in the country is set to deteriorate over the second half of the year. More than one million people are internally displaced and 875,000 people need life-saving food assistance.
