At Mary Waters high school there are four sets of bathroom. Two are assigned to the boys and two to the girls. After vandalism took place in the boys bathrooms at the beginning of the year, the boys bathrooms were closed and have been for the past 8 months. It seems that because of this situation many boys feel that they have reason to access and use the girls bathroom. After an attempted rape taking place in the girls' bathroom at Mary Waters, many female pupils including Elam Yanta, a grade 8 pupil, refuse to use the bathrooms at school as they felt it is a risk to their personal safety.
