SALC is seeking implementation of an arrest warrant for Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir who arrived in South Africa for the African Union (AU) summit taking place in Johannesburg over the weekend.

The International Criminal Court (ICC)  issued a warrant for his arrest after indicting him for war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide in Darfur.

As a member of the ICC, South Africa is obliged to arrest him if he is in the country. on 13 June 2015, the North Gauteng High Court issued an interim order preventing Omar al-Bashir from leaving the country until a final order in the case is made.
