Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met today in Washington, D.C. with African Union Commission Chairperson Moussa Faki Mahamat to open the U.S.-AU Commission High-Level Dialogue. Secretary Blinken and Chairperson Faki discussed the value of a strong partnership in tackling shared challenges such as the COVID-19 pandemic and health security, the climate crisis and the need for a just energy transition, and the imperative to advance inclusive global economic growth and resilient democracies. Secretary Blinken reaffirmed U.S. support for AU efforts to promote peace and good governance in Africa
