Washington, D.C. — The Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) is pleased to announce that the U.S.-South Africa Business Council will become affiliated with CCA by December 1, 2006. Under CCA, the U.S.-South Africa Business Council will continue to support the entry and success of American companies in the South African market and represent their interests to the U.S. and South African governments.
"The inclusion of the U.S.-South Africa Business Council within CCA will strengthen a coordinated approach to U.S.-South Africa trade relations, in addition to providing a needed and valuable member service for companies exploring business opportunities in southern Africa," said Mr. Stephen Hayes, President of the Corporate Council on Africa.
Formed in 1993, the same year that CCA was founded, to serve as the voice of American companies in building the bilateral commercial relationship between the U.S. and South Africa, the U.S.-South Africa Business Council has operated under the umbrella of the National Foreign Trade Council (NFTC), the oldest foreign trade association engaged in international trade.
"Our hope at CCA is that more companies will participate in the U.S.-South Africa business dialogue. I have always been a proponent of partnerships between U.S. and South African companies in the development of African infrastructure and industry. My vision is that the U.S.-South Africa Business Council will stimulate joint ventures and innovative trade and investment partnerships between our two countries," Hayes added.
The U.S.-South Africa Business Council will relocate from the NFTC to CCA's premises on 1100 17th Str. N.W., Washington, D.C. Retaining its existing name, the Council will continue to operate as a broad-based, private sector-driven working group that meets on a regular basis to discuss bilateral trade and investment matters. The working group will also continue to meet regularly with representatives of the U.S. and South African government and diplomatic community.
