The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group President, Donald Kaberuka, was recently a guest on the 'Ivorian Radio and Television Forum', the prime time current affairs programme broadcast on Ivorian Television. Recorded on November 26 at the Bank Group's Temporary Relocation Agency in Tunis, Tunisia, the programme featured an interview with Mr. Kaberuka by five journalists from state-owned television stations in five West African countries (Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea, Mali and Niger). For more than one hour and the half, Mr. Kaberuka responded to questions on African economies and the continent's development prospects, as well as the role the AfDB could play in promoting sustainable economic growth on the continent.

The frank and friendly discussion between the Mr. Kaberuka and the journalists focused mainly on the challenges most African countries were facing in attaining the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), regional economic integration, developing infrastructure on the continent and the role the private sector could play in Africa's development efforts. The discussions also dealt with remittances by the continent's Diaspora, and how such funds could be up to seven times more than Official Development Assistance (ODA) that African countries receive, as well as the possibility of using such resources in Africa's development efforts. The programme was broadcast on radio and television in Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea and Niger on December 2 from 22:00 hours GMT as well as on December 3 in Mali and Senegal.
