There was a high turnout and voting had been orderly in Guinea-Bissau's parliamentary elections on Sunday, news agencies report.
The elections, in a country which has had a history of coups since gaining independence from Portugal, were seen as a major test of its stability, said the BBC. Results are not expected until Friday.
Agence France-Presse reported the head of a European Union monitoring team, Johan Van Hecke, as estimating a percentage poll of 70 to 80 percent.
